Title: fourteen
Author: Susan Frankovich
E-mail: susanf@ticnet.com
Classification: poem, Mulder's POV
Spoilers: Closure
Archive: Anywhere, just ask first please.
Disclaimer: Unfortunately, this character
doesn't belong to me. If he did, I wouldn't
have let him go through so much emotional
agony over Samantha...

Author's Notes: The scene in which Mulder reads
excerpts from Samantha's diary to Scully really
touched something in me. This poem is my attempt
to capture some of the emotions Mulder may have
been feeling as he read his sister's words.

~~~~~~
fourteen
that's how old she was
old enough to think about boys
and have slumber parties
old enough to chat on the
phone with her girlfriends
old enough for school football
games and trips to the mall
she was fourteen
old enough to know pain
and fear and distrust
old enough to know what it's
like to lose everything
old enough to know death
she was fourteen years old
old enough to know she had
a brother who couldn't save her
